Good natured and very funny! A good gift for that relative or friend who has not been there for a while. It will put a smile of their face.
No need to be from Michigan or live in the Upper Peninsula to enjoy comedian Dale Hoffman's essays about life in the U.P. His stories range from the sublime to the ridiculous, but always funny, and often laugh-out-loud funny!
Left me wanting more from this very entertaining and hilarious author! Nice to see some down home humor escape the rural UP of Michigan. Best book on !
Mr. Hoffman somehow manages to get across to the reader the essence of not only what a Yooper is but why the word is attached to folks in upper Michigan.
He definitely grasps the humor here and assigns incidents to demonstrate his knowledge.
The only critique I have of the book - having been born and raised in the Yoo Pee - is the lack of characters, and there are hundreds, who demonstrate every day their unique personalities and habits.

Kind of silly humor.
I love the UP and enjoy reading most any book with the UP as a subject, but this book does not quite do it for me. The humor to me is a bit amateurish and not all that funny. Of course what is funny and what is not is a personal matter but I would recommend looking thru a copy of this book before buying. It may or may not tickle your funny bone.
